28TH GUELPH ORGANIC CONFERENCE, EXPO & SAMPLING FAIR
The theme for 2009 is "O Is For Opportunity." It highlights the opportunities for organic growers to supply new products to the market-place. It encourages consumers to become involved in organic opportunities by buying products and growing their knowledge about sustainable agriculture.
This is Canada's longest running organic marketing event. It will be held at the Guelph University Centre, January 22-25, 2009 (Expo Jan. 24-25 only). The 2-day, 160-booth Expo/Tasting Fair is free to consumers, students and to all retail buyers who want to meet organic food suppliers face-to-face.
The Expo, taking place in the Main & Lower Levels of the Guelph U.C., will feature over 35 organic food samplers and sellers, so bring carry-bags and ready cash. Also, dozens of other vendors will sell organic books, seeds, garden supplies and memberships to a number of related organic organizations.
Plan to attend any of the 30+ paid workshops, on such topics as organics and climate change, raising organic venture capital, organic market gardening, large-scale organic crop and livestock farming, composting, land trusts and seeds. The student-focused Eco-Scholar Program runs again. Several Guelph restaurants feature organic foods during this “Organic Week.” Vitality Magazine is an Organic Media Partner for this event.
