SEPTEMBER 17 MARKS THE 17TH ANNUAL FEAST OF FIELDS - ORGANIC FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL - Albion Hills Conservation Area, Caledon, ON

Sample the freshest, most succulent organic creations prepared by some of Toronto’s top chef’s and Restaurants while sipping on organic and local wines and beers at the 17th Annual Feast of Fields, September 17, 2006.

For 17 years Feast of Fields has been tantalizing tastebuds while bringing together those who grow and prepare our foods with those who simply consume and savour them! The dishes are ingeniously created and prepared to be enjoyed without the use of paper plates and other disposable items.

 Organic growers are invited to present their selections of organic products and answer questions about their operations and philosophies. As well, non-profit groups provide additional information about organic agriculture, the environment, fair trade and other related issues.

The 26th Annual Guelph Organic Conference, Expo & Sampling Fair

• Title: "Next Generation Organics" - with a focus on youth, local organics and a tribute to the organic pioneers. Canada's longest running organic marketing event will be held at the Guelph

University Centre, January 26-28, 2007.  The Jan. 27-28 Expo/Tasting Fair is free to consumers, gardeners, retailers, students and to all buyers and enthusiasts who want to meet organic food suppliers face-to-face.  There will be approximately 135 booths, including almost 35 organic food samplers and dozens of other vendors who sell organic books, seeds and garden supplies.  Do you want to find work or develop your own network in the organic business?  Then, attend some of the 30 paid workshops on topics such as: youth/employment in organics, professional organic market

gardening, urban organics, GENEAction films, large-scale organic crop farming and even 'Organics On The Internet.'  A special Eco-Scholar Program runs again.

Canadian Organic Growers (COG)

A non-profit organization that is helping farmers and gardeners grow organically, and consumers find good sources of organic food. 

By becoming a member of COG, you can help give it the clout it needs to support the consumers and growers of organic food.   Membership includes four issues of The Canadian Organic Grower, a magazine full of tips for organic gardeners and farmers as well as information on organics across the country.  As well, you receive monthly electronic updates to keep you on top of what’s going on in the organic sector.  You also have access to the COG library, an extensive collection of gardening and farming books that can be borrowed by mail at no cost.  By choosing to participate in the GTA Chapter of COG, you can actively contribute to the organic movement in your area. The GTA Chapter undertakes activities such as presenting speakers and panel discussions on organic food and food production, promoting organic food and food production by participation in public events and through the media, updating a directory for the GTA area that lists where to get organic products, and producing a regular newsletter for members.
